Editor’s Note: This is the final installment of “Sun in My Clouds,” work of fiction by storyteller Julia Blues.
Jason and I are officially separated. We have to remain separated legally for one year before we can file for divorce.
Of course, I had a temporary lapse and considered us possibly working things out. Quickly, I regained my sanity.
Michelle and I are still on non-speaking terms. If I have it my way, it will remain that way. Nothing good can come from a friendship when there’s no trust. In the end she wasn’t on my team. Letting her go was a good decision.
As far as I know those two are still together. I wish them nothing but the best.
When I got home from the cruise I set the wheels in motion to open my bakery. I’m in the process of obtaining a business loan. If all goes well, In the Nic of Pie will be opening its doors in the spring. Had my mom not sown that seed in my spirit, the idea of working for myself never would have been a thought in my mind. Thanks to her, and even my stepdad sowing a financial seed, I am well on my way.
Steven and I did meet up again, several times at that, on the cruise. We talk just about every night. He’s a great guy who appreciates this journey I’m on. He’s been divorced for a little over six years. They have joint custody of their four-year-old daughter. With him living in Arizona and me in North Carolina, it’s going to be a challenge for us to see each other. I can’t say he’ll be my next husband, but I will say he’s a good place to start.
Who knows, with all the other changes in my life, maybe adding a little more spice to my life will be just what the doctor ordered.
